Knit a Bright & Bouncy Montadale Beanie

A breed less than a hundred years old, the Montadale produces medium-soft fleece that is exceptionally white in color, making it easy to dye. Montadale was developed in the 1930's and is not widely available, though some small yarn producers have begun to offer it on its own or as a blend.

To substitute for the original handspun yarn, we suggest Montadale Woolen from Solitude Wool, which specializes in breed-specific yarn. Sample the lofty woolen yarn at a variety of needle sizes to find a fabric you like.
